How a chemical barrier works

A treated zone is created in the soil around the perimeter of your home. When termites try to cross it, they’re exposed to the treatment. They can’t pass through it, and the treatment is designed to be transferred back to the colony — eliminating the source, not just the entry point.

The treatment is applied by drilling into concrete paths and injecting into garden beds at regular intervals around the structure. The process takes a few hours and causes minimal disruption. Most homeowners are back to normal the same day.

What it protects against

A correctly installed chemical barrier protects your home from subterranean termites — the type that travel through the soil to access the timber in your home. This includes Coptotermes acinaciformis, the most destructive termite species in Australia.

Warranty

We offer up to an 8-year warranty on post-construction chemical barrier treatments — one of the longest available. The warranty covers the treated zone and is backed by the manufacturer of the product used.

Is a chemical barrier right for your property?

Chemical barriers are the standard recommendation for established homes where termite activity has been found or where the property is at high risk. They’re not suitable as a standalone solution for new builds — pre-construction physical barriers are more appropriate there.
